John 10:10 – “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

We have heard many times about the Christian life and how good it is. We have heard how joyful and even happy everything in it can and should be. But sometimes we see ourselves stumbling along, saved, but falling over the roots and into the ditches of life. It may be that we need a refresher course in the abundant life that Jesus came to give us.

The Bible is foundational to our Christian lives. We must believe that it is God’s Love Letter to us. It tells of Him, it tells of Jesus, and it tells of the ministry and work of the Holy Spirit.

• The Bible, therefore, is that which forms us into that which God wants us to be–to be like Jesus.

• The Bible influences us to refrain from sin and the semblance of sin.

• The Bible fashions faith within us to do God’s will.

• The Bible focuses our eyes on that which will please God.

• The Bible equips us with all that we need to fight the good fight of faith.

Much more can be found in the Bible, but we will not find it if we do not read and study it. I have found the very best thing I can do as a Christian is to start every day reading and studying my Bible. When I do, it is a fresh breath of clean, pure air to start my day. The fact is, I am not limited to taking that breath just once during the day. I can read it and memorize it and hold it in my heart so that I can benefit from it all day long!
