What is fasting?

To fast simply means to voluntarily abstain from eating for an extended period of time. Biblical fasting is a discipline of abstinence from food that you are to spend time seeking the Lord in Bible study, prayer and meditation. Please be sure that you are medically sound before you decide to fast.

When is the 40 days of prayer and fasting?

As a church, we are setting aside Tuesday, February 20 through Saturday, March 31.

Why are we fasting?

Jesus taught about fasting in Matthew 6:16-18, and He would add to that teaching in Matthew 17:20-21 when He said: “And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.”

We are intentionally setting aside 40 days as a church for the purpose of asking God to bless the next few months of events.

How can I get involved?

We want to encourage you to fast for 1 day, 1 meal, or multiple days throughout these 40 days. We would like for you to stop by the church lobby and place an “I Commit” sticker on the day that you are choosing to fast. This banner will serve as a reminder that our church is collectively fasting for 40 days with the intention of asking God to do mighty things!

Although you most likely will not fast all 40 days, you can still be involved by praying daily. Don’t neglect the power of prayer in your life.
