“And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” Matthew 25:40

Have you ever been approached by someone begging at a stoplight or in a parking lot and didn’t know what to do for them? Have you later wondered if they had a place to live? Or, when the temperatures dip to freezing levels, have you considered how those without a home survive? As a church, we want to reach out, as our Lord commanded, and show the Hope that is in Jesus to those who are homeless and in need. We are calling this outreach Bridge Builders. Our goal is to build bridges of hope to the hopeless.

In October, we will give out backpacks to homeless individuals. In addition to some warmth and hygiene essentials, each backpack will contain a quilted pillow made by the ladies in our church quilting ministry. The pillow has a pocket, which we will stuff with a copy of the Gospel of John/Romans and the plan of salvation.

How can you help? You can provide one or more of the items listed below or you can “purchase” a backpack for $15, and we will do the shopping for you! Items will be collected in the church lobby through September 30, or you can give online to be a part of this outreach!

Cases of bottled water, soft snack food, Vienna sausages, toboggans, new athletic socks,  new combs, gloves from Dollar Tree, $5 McDonalds gift cards, small toiletries (shampoo, lotion, toothpaste, etc.), handwritten note of encouragement

The idea is to meet their immediate physical needs, while opening their eyes to the Love of Jesus. For $15 you can cover the cost of one backpack to help someone in need! Click here to give. Enter the amount of your gift and then select Bridge Builders as the fund that you want to give to. Together we can begin to build a Bridge of Hope!
