Oftentimes kids like the toy of their friend much better than the one they have so they trade toys. Sometimes kids trade lunches in the lunchroom at school.  It just seems that their friend has a better toy or lunch than they do.  Sometimes adults feel the same way.  The trade of an outfit, a pair of curtains, a snack or a pair of shoes seems to better fulfill our desires.  This trade can temporarily satisfy our longing but it is not the best trade ever.

Today I want to talk to you about the best trade ever!

Has there ever been a time in your life when you felt hopeless and trapped in a situation that seemed endless?  At that time in your life, you might have said something like, “Lord, this is not how I planned my life to be.”  Or, you might have asked the question, “Lord, can you still use me?”  You might have even compared your life to a friend and wanted to trade lives.  If this is you then you are the one that Isaiah 61:3 is speaking of.  To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

God not only understands heartaches; He specializes in putting lives back together so there is a happy ending. God delights in solving hard cases.  There is no problem or situation too hard for Him.  He can bring good out of evil because of His wisdom.  He has the ability to turn ashes into beauty as Isaiah 61:3 states.

Unlike us, God considers no situation hopeless.  Nothing is too hard for Him to handle; therefore, it doesn’t matter what failures have taken place in your life.  It doesn’t matter how wronged you have been or how much you have wronged by others. God is capable of making wrongs right and restoring joy and contentment in your heart.  The joy the Lord brings in your heart will show outwardly, as you live happy and contented as a child of God.

As the New Year begins consider Psalm 107:8, 9, “Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!  For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.”  God is eager to make your life a trophy of His grace, power and love.  He desires for each one of us to live a satisfied and fulfilled life. This life is only brought about by His strength! You and I must be willing to do it God’s way.

Can I truly overcome the impossible circumstances in my life?  Can the Lord use me?  Yes, He can and He wants to.  Allow Him to turn your ashes into beauty. Give the Lord your tough times, your hurts,  and your disappoints and then allow Him to use you to help someone else to do the same.  Have you made the best trade ever?  If not, do so today!
