As we approach Resurrection Sunday, I am reminded of the words of the Lord Jesus in John 11:25, “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.”  Jesus Christ both laid down His life for us as our Sacrifice and Savior and was resurrected from the dead for us. (John 10:18).

He alone has the power to come alive again.  No one or power could keep Him in the grave.  They sealed His tomb with a heavy stone, but it could not hold Him.  The guards were set to secure the tomb, but they could not stop Him. The grave is empty. He had the power to rise from the dead and He did.  He is the resurrection and the life.

It was one thing for Jesus to say that He would do it and quite another that He did so.  Jesus is the God-Man.  He is the Savior of the world.  He came to live, to die and to be raised again from the dead.

Because Jesus is alive, we too can live.  In John 11:26, Jesus continued by stating, “And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.”  Eternal life is given to everyone who will believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as his or her personal Savior (Romans 6:23b; Ephesians 2:8, 9).

Jesus then asked, “Believest thou this?” (John 11:26).  That is the question that each one of us must answer.  Have you believed on the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior?  Do you know that you will live forever with the Lord because you have believed in Him? “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (Romans 10:9)

Because Jesus died and lives again, let us celebrate on Resurrection Sunday!
