“Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also MAKE A WAY to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”  I Corinthians 10:12-13

Pastor Rabon said in a sermon last month, “You cannot PREVENT temptation, but you can be PREPARED FOR temptation.”

That immediately made my mind think of the GPS apps we all have on our smartphones these days. They all inform us ahead of time (if we check them) of any auto accidents, traffic congestion, and even if a police officer has someone pulled over on the side of the interstate. There is absolutely nothing any of us can DO about these incidents on the interstate, but our GPS apps are simply informing us of them, and that they exist and have happened, so that we will know what is coming up ahead. That is very useful information, is it not? Knowing what is coming up down the road, before we get to it?

Going back to the verse mentioned up above, “but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but willWITH THE TEMPTATION also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” Just the same as our GPS will ask us ahead of time, “There’s an accident up ahead, I have found a quicker way that will save you twelve minutes, do you want to proceed?” well so does God say to us, “There’s a temptation up ahead….you can choose to drive on and take your chances falling into sin, or, I have made a better way for you to take. The choice is always your’s though.” God KNOWS we are all going to daily face temptation, but He always has another way, already mapped out for us to take, just like our GPS app does for us when driving. It might be a way around the temptation, over the temptation, or even through the temptation, but, God IS faithful, and He WILL provide a way.

How many times have you just hopped into your car and started driving towards your destination without FIRST checking your GPS to see if there are any traffic slow-ups, in which case you might want to choose another route? I have done that SO many times, and then I always find myself saying the exact same thing to my wife, “Aaaaggh!!! I wish I would’ve checked the GPS FIRST, before leaving the house…then we could’ve gone a different way, and avoided all this traffic!!!” Well, so it is with the Word of God in our lives. If we check His Word FIRST, before doing anything in our lives or before making any big decisions, or, just simply every morning in our devotions to help us start our day….then that gives God the opportunity TO speak to our hearts and show us of any roadblocks or accidents that might be in our way, or on our path that day.

Always check God’s Word FIRST, and pray to Him, to help you be better prepared for whatever you may encounter throughout your day. I speak from personal experience when I say that, “You will ALWAYS be glad that you did, and you will ALWAYS regret it later if you didn’t.” Don’t start your day off unprepared, by not checking your Spiritual GPS first.
