I Don’t Have Time!

I don’t have time!

Have you ever looked at your calendar for the upcoming week and been overwhelmed with all that you have to do? Sure you have! It’s a universal problem. There are only so many hours in a day, and only so many days in a week. Unfortunately, we can’t do everything. God knew this so He included a helpful passage in the Bible.

Ephesians 5:15-17 “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.”

The word circumspectly means “diligently.” It’s easy to get careless in our schedule and cram in agendas and events that just don’t belong there! I read this statement awhile ago, and it has helped me.

If you don’t have enough time to do everything God has asked you to do, you must be doing something God didn’t ask you to do.

It’s simple but so helpful! Ask yourself today: what has God called you to do? It’s a powerful exercise to list out your God-given roles and responsibilities and see if you are fulfilling them on a weekly basis. Seriously, if you can, pause right now. Grab a blank piece of paper, write “God-given Roles and Responsibilities” across the top and start listing.

What has God called you to do? We often find ourselves crowding out time with Him for other things that are not priorities. Reevaluate your schedule and be sure that you are redeeming the time that God has given you!
